Recommendation letter from Professor Ravi Batra

December 25, 2024

To Whom It May Concern,

I write this letter on behalf of Mr. Shambhu Sharan, whom I have known for at least two decades. Mr. Sharan is a well-educated man with a master’s degree in Journalism from the University of North Texas, which is near Dallas where I currently reside. I was a professor of economics at Southern Methodist University in Dallas for over 50 years and then I retired in June 2024. He has been of great help to me in many ways.

Mr. Sharan could easily have a journalist’s job and work for a prestigious newspaper or magazine; instead, he became a yoga teacher and dedicated his life in the service of humanity by teaching yoga exercises and spiritual practices. I have personally benefitted from his instructions and dedication.

In 2013, a group of physicians informed me that I suffered from cancer, which was so deadly that even chemotherapy could not help. It was leukemia with a 17 P deletion. There was no known cure for this disease at that time. I had only six months to live. This is what my doctors told me. Mr. Sharan came to my rescue at this point. He convinced me that some yoga exercises may be able to extend my life span and even allow me to live a healthy life. I was very skeptical, but I was ready to try anything.

As you can see, I am still alive, and am able to write this letter. Two events followed. First Mr. Sharan’s instructions revived my strength and enabled me to do exercise. Second, by the grace of God, a new medicine was soon discovered, and I was selected as part of a clinical trial, which added to my recovery. Within three months, Mr. Sharan’s techniques, in conjunction with my medicine, allowed me to resume playing tennis.

Truly, Mr. Sharan is a gift to humanity, and I am incredibly appreciative to have had the opportunity to learn and grow from him.

Sincerely,

Ravi Batra
